De Synology DiskStation DS1511+ krachtige en stabiele NAS-server en biedt ruimte voor 5 SATA harde schijven van 3,5". Met behulp van een Synology DX510 kan de server uitgebreid worden tot maximaal 15 harde schijven waardoor een maximale opslagecapaciteit van 60TB behaald kan worden. Maar de de DS1511+ biedt niet enkele een centrale plek voor al uw data, met behulp van de vele applicaties die Synology DiskStation Manager (DSM) u brengt is de server zeer wijd toepasbaar. Of het nu gaat om het hosten van (tot 30) websites via Web Station, het maken van geautomatiseerde backups via Backup Station of het delen van bestanden (zowel intern als extern) via File Station, het is allemaal mogelijk out-of-the-box. De DS1511+ is vooral gericht op de zakelijke gebruiker en heeft daarom enkele specifiek zakelijke functies ingebouwd zoals Encrypted FTP acces, Mail Station, HTTPS-versleuteling, Cross-platform support (de DS1511+ werkt met zowel Windows, Mac als Linux tegelijk) en PHP/MySQL-support.
Ook wat hardware betreft is de Synology DS1511+ zeer uitgebreid. Aan de achterkant van de server zijn 4 USB 2.0 poorten, een VGA-poort en twee gigabit LAN-aansluitingen te vinden. Van binnen bevat de server een 1.8 GHz Dual-core processor en 1 GB DDR2 geheugen dat uitbreidbaar is tot maximaal 3 GB.

Ik heb hem hier nu ook naar volle tevredenheid draaien. Ik heb er 5 WD30 schijven bijbesteld (Ook gelijk voorzien van 3Gb voor toekomstige software pakketten) waarvan er helaas eentje bij aankomt was overleden.
Dit is netjes en snel opgelost door mobile-harddisk, ik heb een nieuwe gekregen. Misschien had ik hem moeten laten inrichten dan waren ze er daar al achter gekomen, maar ik had gebeld dat ik zelf de installatie wilde doen. (eigen voorkeuren enz) wel goede en snelle service.
De NAS draaide al in RAID-5 (builden duurt wel lang, toch RAID-5 gekozen boven SHR persoonlijke leuze) toen de nieuwe schijf binnenkwam, deze erbij geprikt en de RAID-5 config uitgebreid, duurt weer lang maar werkt rustig zonder problemen op de achtergrond. De NAS blijft netjes werken, pluspunt.
De NAS is snel en stil, werkt uitstekend samen met mijn Macs, er zit leuke s/w bij en je kunt er ook veel over vinden op de diverse fora.
Zeer tevreden, zit nu te dubben om er nog een 510 uitbreiding bij te nemen.
Ik kan hem iedereen aanbevelen die een goede, snelle en stille NAS zoekt.

Ik heb 2 week geleden dit prachtie apparaat gekocht. Erg invoudig te instaleren. Vanuit mobile-harddisk ook gelijk respons op een vraag met een ter zake doend anwoord.
Over de DS 1511 + --_ Zeer snel en geruisloze NAS. Veel extra's aan toe te voegen, grote fora op het net waar je sel antwoord krijgt.
Oftewel een heel snel en probleemloos NAS. Ik ben er erg tevreden over

Heb de Synology DS1511+ nu ruim een week of 2 binnen en werkt uit de kunst!
besteld met 3x WD30EZRX en vervolgens nog 2 2Tb WD20EARS die ik nog had liggen er ingestoken
de 3 3Tb staan in 1 volume de 2 2Tb staan elk als los volume om later rap te kunnen uit gooien
Ik draai er zelf momenteel de beta software op en nog geen problemen mee gehad.
dit in combinatie met mijn aangepaste AppleTV2 is een droom op multimedia gebied.
Iso files van dvd's trek ik zo open en stream ik naar de woonkamer
Had hiervoor een paar raid toestellen van Iomega IX4-100 / IX4-200d etc De Synology is een duurdere oplossing maar een betere.
Bovendien heb je zonder problemen toegang tot de shell moet je bij iomega eens proberen ben je direct je garantie kwijt.

Heb deze DS nu enkele maanden en kan niet anders zeggen dan dat het een topding is!
nog geen enkel probleem gehad met de NAS. veel leuke apps voor de Istuff.
kost een paar centen maar dan heb je ook wel wat!

Dit is een geweldig apparaat !
Niet alleen gebruikt hij veel minder stroom als mijn zelfgebouwde server hij is ook veel stiller.
Hij gebruikt ongeveer 30 Watt als de harde schijven in hibernation staan en 72 watt wanneer hij belast wordt.
Een aanrader voor bedrijven of de fanatieke thuisgebruiker !

Een mooi apparaat en aanmerkelijk sneller dan mijn DS409. Host meerdere shares en iscsi LUN voor diverse servers en pc's.
DSM3 is een hele verbetering maar ik mis nog de standaard ondersteuning voor DS gebasseerde backup van de lun's. Nu moet je een backup op de server draaien van de (middels iscsi gemounte) lun. Prima voor een server maar niet handig voor een werkstation/laptop.
Al met al een heel mooi apparaat!

Apparaat ruim een week binnen en ik moet zeggen, een erg prettig te bedienen stuk electronica. Na veel wikken we wegen toch voor de Synology gekozen. Twijfelde tussen Synology en QNAP. Met name met het verminderde stroomverbruik (t.o.v. voormalige server) zal deze zich in de loop der jaren zelf gaan terugverdienen.
